Yes Sven. I think unfortunately that we will struggle in these games and last 9 in general as we did against WBA, Palace etc. If we also see continued nepotism with Nolan that may well be the final straw and may be enough to convince the owners that a change is due. So in some ways, those that want BFS gone will possibly have to almost want us to struggle for the rest of the season?. No one wants us to lose of course so its a real Hobsons choice :-)

Buffers what we don't want is a "really nice guy but takes us down" type.

did pards really give a fuck about the supporters, or was it just part of his smarm?

Its not so much what they think of them, more of what they say and do...that includes on pitch decisions too.

A start will be the next three (Sunderland h, Leicester a , Stoke h) for anyone who is wavering.
Let's see if there is any sort of spark or sign of our early season form. More like Palace & West Brom at home and surely his fans will be struggling for excuses.

What a manager thinks of his club's supporters is way down on my list of requirements.

Huffers, I think your explanation of why you want BFS gone is that of the majority who want a new manager. I am less convinced it is a football reason although many posts seem to claim that.

Your reason is a good one too and will probably be what leads to his departure but I am not so sure it will be this year. We shall see.

I wish we had Pardew again now. I can take losing, what I cant take is a manager who doesn't give a fuck about the supporters etc.

Re: Arsenal v West Ham - Official Match Thread 3-0 FT
A manager's success should be judged over a few seasons. Sherwood has altered the mentality of theVilla players it seems but wait and see over the next season or two. If they do not invest, they will be down at the bottom end and struggling. A manager does of course make a difference with the organisation. systems etc but if you have a much larger budget for players and can spend more you will over a number of seasons have a much better squad and that technical superiority and quality of player alone will win the majority of games regardless of the systems IMHO.

It may well be that BFS is not instilling the belief but I highly doubt that Sherwood's Villa or Dyche's Burnley would have come to the Emerates and faired much better.

BFS will be judged by me on these last 9 games which, on paper, look winnable. The games since Xmas have been against the top 6 or 7 clubs so were always going to be a challenge. It was the games against Leicester (scraped home), WBA and Palace that were the more disappointing ones for me. Teams since Xmas started to come to UP and defend deep based on what they saw of us in that successful spell early in the season, The same will be true in the remaining games at home. Lets see how BFS handles these next 9 games. If we do not start getting some wins he will need to go.

Interesting 6 weeks lie ahead :-)

Honestly - if the right names comes up then I don't mind if he moves along. Nine games, left - eight of them we should be able to get points from if we can get our shit together - 24 possible points - lets see how we do.

Re: Arsenal v West Ham - Official Match Thread 3-0 FT
The two choices often seem to be portrayed as going out with no discernible plan in a negative mindset beaten before you step on the pitch OR play some kamikaze Blackpool style with no defending.
Perhaps some managerial SOPHISTICATION could be applied to come up with a solid way of playing that gives us a chance of staying competitive with a prospect of winning

Should we sit back more ?

I think you already know the answer to that question.

Does anyone still remember the start of the season without Carroll and Nolan ?

I think most of you seem to obsess on the match day details too much, of course they are important, but most of thhe results are decided before they get here. The organisation of the side, the recruitment, the level of professionalism through the course ofnthenseason, the attitude and commitment of the players.

I can't be the only one who thinks that suggesting that all he needs to do is be a good motivational speaker on match day and go for all-out attack against the "big" clubs to be successful is naive and stupid?

Maybe I am?

Wwell said ajc123. Too many fans are dazzled by SA's words on the state of football. If 11 players believe they are always better than 11 players that don't.

Give me a manager with a bit of enthusiasm rather than SA keep telling us how difficult it is all the time....

Re: Arsenal v West Ham - Official Match Thread 3-0 FT
Just to add a bit more fuel to the fire against this stupid mechanical relationship between money, squad size and success. It seems to me that when a PL team take on the top bods they can either be dazzled by the money, size and strength of the squad, etc and defend in the hope of a breakout and a lucky goal or they can take the game to the opposition.
Yesterday Sherwood said 'when I arrived (at Villa) I decided that this was not a team that should sit 10 players behind the ball, that we should take the game on and if we could get the ball to Gabi and Benteke they would score goals'. Sunderland sat back, we sit back. When you do that you invite defeat.

The difference at Villa is between Lambert who sat back and Sherwood who has got the team going forward and winning. How many here think we should sit back anymore? How many think our squad is only fit for 10 men behind the ball? And how many think that will ensure 'success'? The only thing it's fit for is losing. Our manager employs those tactics when we have forwards crying out for service. It's a gamble playing that way in todays game, and any manager bedazzled by money, squad size, etc should give up and take up a less taxing occupation and sport .... like tiddlywinks.
